Coreopsis Tinctoria Flowers from the Kunlun Mountain belongs to alpine plant and they weregrown on the Kunlun Mountains at an altitude of3000metres above sea level. They have a certaineffect on blood lipids and blood presure when people drink plenty of functional drinks of CoreopsisTinctoria Flowers. However, reports on Coreopsis tinctoria flowers were mainly about how to extractthe active ingredients of coreopsis tinctoria flowers, and lack of researches on physiological functions ofcoreopsis tinctoria flowers. In this study, we are going to analogue the functional drinks of Coreopsistinctoria flowers, and to investigate the effect of aqueous extract of Coreopsis tinctoria flowers(AECTF)from the Kunlun Mountain on blood and blood presure lipids in rats, aqueous extract of Coreopsistinctoria flowers(AECTF) was obtained and given to rats orally via gavage.1.Experiment on blood lipid: High-fat diet and AECTF in high, medium, low doses was given toSPF SD rats, Glucose (GLU) and blood lipid (the total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C))weremeasured before and after28days of treatment, and liver tissue was collected to observe the effect ofAECTF on the morphology of liver tissue from rats. Results: Compared with hyperlipidemia modelgroup, TC content in three AECTF groups (high, medium, low) was lowered by39%、30.5%、32.6%,respectively, and the difference was significant (p<0.01), LDL-C content in three AECTF groups wassignificantly lower than in hyperlipidemia model group (p<0.05), and lowered by40.3%,31%,30.8%,respectively. Compared with normal control group, body weight of rats in other groups decreasedsignificantly(p<0.01) and organ coefficient of liver increased significantly(p<0.01). Fat vacuoles of livertissue in hyperlipidemia model group increased significantly(p<0.01), indicating that hyperlipidemiamodel was established successfully. Fat vacuoles of liver tissue in three AECTF groups (high, medium, low) were significantly lower than in hyperlipidemia model group(p<0.05).2. Experiment on blood presure: Aqueous extract of Coreopsis tinctoria flowers(AECTF) wasgiven to SPF rats with high blood pressure(SHR rats) orally via gavage, and systolic pressure and theimpact factor of blood pressure was tested after a42days of treatment, organs was collected to measurethe organ coefficient at the end of the treatment. Results: Blood presure of rats in each groups was simlarat the beginning of the treatment(p>0.05), and from2nd to5th week of the treatment period, comparedto SHR model group, blood presure of rats in other groups decreased sighificantly(p<0.01), such asblood presure of rats in blood-pressure-lowering drug group decreased the most, and blood presuredecreased by15.6%、10.1%、8.8%respectively in three AECTF groups. Body weight of rats in eachgroups was simlar at the beginning of the treatment(p>0.05), Body weight of rats in blood presure ofrats in blood-pressure-lowering drug group decreased the most,(p<0.01), AECTF group was lower thanin SHR model group, but blood presure of rats in medium, low dose AECTF group was similar to thatin SHR model group. AECTF has a certain effect on decreasing blood presure of high blood pressure(SHR) rats. blood lipid aldosterone(ALD) and angiotensin II(ANG II) of SHR rats increased comparedto SHR model group. Conclusion: In the present study we found that AECTF could decrease blood lipid(TC, LDC-L)of hyperlipidemia model rats, indicating that AECTF may have a certain effect on decrease blood lipid, also, AECTF could significantly decrease fat vacuoles of liver tissue and influence organ coefficient ofliver and spleen of SD rats. Beside this, AECTF could decrease the systolic pressure of rat tail artery, indicating that AECTF may ave a certain effect on decrease blood presure, Further study is needed tofocus on the relationship between blood presure and it’s influencing factors. The present study willprovide a scientific basis for researches on health products of aqueous extract of Coreopsis tinctoriaflowers(AECTF).
