ObjectiveMastodynia is a kind of disease which effects patients’normal life activities. Most patients is divided into the type of stagnation of the Liver-Qi. We found mastodynia may associate with the psychological symptoms of the patients, such as depression, anxiety, and the scare of cancer. Moreover, those psychological symptoms can aggravate the breast pain, which forms an infernal circle. The interaction between breast pain and unhealthy psychology is considered as the main reason of a high relapse rate.Methods70cases were divided into2groups in random. One group were treated with Chinese herbal therapy only. The other were treated with a combination of Chinese herbal therapy and emotional therapy as well. All the cases were filled up SAS、SDS、VAS、Cardiff breast pain chart before and after the therapy.ResultThere is no different between the two groups in age, education level, narital status, the Cardiff breast pain score, VAS breast pain score、SAS score、 SDS score. After4weeks, the Cardiff breast pain score of both groups were descend (P<0.05). And this trend was kept up to the end of the study. But compare to the Chinese medicine group, the combination group shows a wider range of decline during the first4weeks. All the cases show no difference in Cardiff breast pain score by the end of the study. Besides, both the two groups are detected remission in anxiety and depression. Moreover, the SAS score decreased more in the combination group.Conclusion Chinese herbal therapy can release the breast pain and psychological symptoms. The emotional therapy combining with Chinese herbal therapy has definite benefits in releasing anxiety.
