[Objective]To explore the effect of reduced glutathione in the treatment for lead poisoning.[Methods]The levels of lead in urine and blood were measured according to "Urine-Determination of lead-Graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry"(WS/T18-1996) and "Blood-Determination of lead and cadmium-Graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophoto-metric method"(WS/T174-1999), respectively. The diagnosis of lead poisoning was performed based on "Diagnostic Criteria of Occupational Chronic Lead Poisoning"(GBZ37-2002).61patients with lead poisoning that received calcium disodium edentate and reduced glutathione were classified to observation group;52patients with lead poisoning that just received calcium disodium edentate were classified to control group. The case files of all patients were collected and analyzed. Equilibrium analyses were performed for age, smoking, drinking and the initial urine and serum lead concentration; the hospital day and complaint of patients in observation group were compared to that in control group.[Results] The ages, smoking, drinking and initial urine and serum lead concentration of patients were comparable between observation group and control group. Hospital days in observation group (23.5±12.1) were less than that in control group (28.4±10.1)(t=2.31,P<0.05); The proportion of patients suffered complaint in observation group (4.9%) differed with that in control group (17.3%)(χ2=4.54,P<0.05)at metaphase and anaphase of treatment.[Conclusion] Reduced glutathione promotes the recovery of lead poisoning, and decreases hospital day and occurrence of complaints.
