Objective: To study the susceptible factors, manifestations, andprognosis of the adverse drug reactions (ARDs) caused by BacilleCalmette-Guerin (BCG).Methods: The clinical data of73children with BCGvaccination-induced ARDs seen from January2000to January2012inChildren’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were analyzedretrospectively. Results:In the73cases, there were54boys and19girls. Localenhanced response at inject site happened in4cases, regionallymphadentitis happened in44cases, both of them happened in10cases,widely disseminated disease happened in15cases.39cases had beenfollowed up, for the prognosis30patients were recovery or improved,9patients were dead. There were24cases with primary immunodeficiencydisease (PID),14patients were chronic granulomatous disease (CGD),3patients were severe combined immunodeficiency disease (SCID),1patientwas Omenns syndrome,1patient was X-linked hyper-IgM syndrome(XHIM),1patient wasβ1interleukin-12receptor chain (IL-12Rβ1) deficiency,4patients were X-linked agammaglobulinemia(XLA).Conclusions: The common BCG adverse reaction were axillarylymphadentitis and cold abscess at inject site, generally prognosis was good. The most serious BCG adverse reaction was widely disseminated disease, itwas closely related to PID and was fetal, children with severe ARDs wererecommended to take immune function screening test.
