OBJECTIVE:To investigate the proportion of differernt types of glaucoma (especially the primary glaucoma),distribution feature in genders and ages,as well as the disease change characteristic of these patients, which can provide new epidemiological data for the prevention and treatment for glaucoma.METHODS:Data of glaucoam cases in the Department of Ophthalmology, Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University from June,2006to May,2011were reviewed and analysed. According to the diagnosis, they were divided into three categories. Statistics analysis of hospitalized patients was on the basis of age, gender, distribution and the composition of all types of glaucoma. Kolmogorov-Smirnov was used for the age distribution of each type of glaucoam. We analysed the onset ages of different types of hospitalized patients with glaucoma by using descriptive statistics (reflecting concentrate and discrete trend). And to compare the proportion of the primary glaucoma in two respectively time (in June to May,2006and June,2010to10to May,2011), analyzing the characteristics of its change and possible reasons.RESULTS:In all cases, patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG), primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), congential glaucoma and secondary glaucoma accounted for39.54%,5.90%,4.97%and49.59%respectively in five years. For the primary glaucoma, APACG、CPACG and POAG made up55.35%,31.66%and12.99%respectively. The ratio of PACG with POAG was6.70:1, while APACG and CPACG was1.75:1. Compared with all the observer years, the proportion of differernt types of glaucoma has no statistical meaning.966patients hospitalized patients with glaucoma, the gender ratios (male female) were1.31:1. The gender ratios (male:female) of primary glaucoma were1:1.89, and APACG、CPACG were1:2.92、1.01:1. The gender ratios (male:female) of POAG, congential glaucoma and secondary glaucoma were1:1.89,4.70:1,1.67:1and2.42:1respectively. Among all the patients, males were more susceptible for the secondary glaucoma, accounting for61.86%in all male patients, and35.09%in all the patients with glaucoma, which was followed by APACG. APACG happened mostly in women, accounting for43.30%in all female patients, and18.74%in all the patients with glaucoma, followed by secondary glaucoma.Among the patients with40years old and above accounted for71.22%, while they were63.04%、for patients over50years. The age distribution of APACG、CPACG、 POAG and secondary glaucoma were normal distribution, while congential glaucoma were negative skewness distribution. APACG and CPACG with40years old and above accounted for99.59%and99.28%,while they were91.77%and91.37%for patients over50years. In POAG,40、50years old and under accounted for40.35%、64.91%. The average onset age of congenital glaucoma was7.21years old, and75%of the patients were under10years old. Secondary glaucoma can occur in Different age,and the age is relatively scattered.CONCLUSIONS:Compared with the constitutive portions of hospitalized patients with glaucoma in other hospital, the results were not all the same in our department. SG was the main part of hospitalized patients with glaucoma. Primary glaucoma is still the greater part of hospitalized patients with glaucoma, with APACG constituting the greater part, the next was CPACG..However, POAG still constituted the small part. The increase in secondary glaucoma hospitalized patients may be related to geographical, economic status (fighting, alcohol, traffic accidents, machinery and equipment trauma) and posterior segment surgery carried out about. Acute angle-closure glaucoma population age increase may be associated with population aging and socio-economic factors. Open-angle glaucoma constitute lower analyze the reasons of treatment may be associated with awareness, diagnosis and treatment, incidence of disease duration, as well as regional economic and cultural differences Congenital glaucoma constitutes no significant change may be due to the larger related with genetic factors. The prevention and control of glaucoma, secondary glaucoma can not be ignored. Female population over the age of40should pay particular attention to closed-angle glaucoma screening, men40years of age groups is the focus of prevention and control of open-angle glaucoma.
