Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of combination Locking CompressionPlate (LCP) and autogenous bone graft treatment for femoral shaft dystrophic and atrophicnonunion and provide the basis for clinical application. Methods: In this study, cases arefrom the orthopedic ward of Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of TraditionalChinese Medicine and selected among the patients of the femoral shaft dystrophic andatrophic nonunion with a total of40cases with LCP combination of autogenous bone grafttreatment in May2010to December2011.22cases were male, female18cases; the oldest66years old, minimum28years old, average age of49.73years old; dystrophic nonunionin18cases, atrophic nonunion in22cases. All patients were followed up after treatmentand evaluated according to bone healing and lower limb function after9months and12months postoperatively, in order to gain the results of treatment. Results: According tobone healing, after9months postoperatively, excellent22cases, good11cases, fair3cases, poor4cases, excellent or good rate to82.50%;after12months postoperatively,excellent24cases, good11cases, fair3cases and poor2cases, excellent or good rate to87.50%; the treatment results of dystrophic and atrophic nonunion are not statisticallysignificant different. According to lower limb function, after9months postoperatively,excellent22cases, good13cases, fair1case, poor4cases, excellent or good rate to87.50%;after12months postoperatively, excellent23cases, good14cases, fair1case andpoor2cases, excellent or good rate to92.50%; the treatment results of dystrophic andatrophic nonunion are not statistically significant different. Conclusion: LCP combined of autogenous bone graft focusing on protecting the environment of the biology of fracturehealing, while providing a fixed strength, is an effective method of treatment of femoralshaft dystrophic and atrophic nonunion.
