Objective:To observe the effects of Red Gingseng on glycemia, lipid metabolism and the improvement of insulin resistance (IR) in type2diabetes mellitus(T2DM) rats.Methods:Total70healthy wister male rats, which weighted in (160±20)g, were randomly divided into normal rats group(n=10) and T2DM rats group (n=60).The normal rats group which was fed with normal diet and the T2DM rats group was fed with high glucose and high fat diet. After fed6weeks later the T2DM rats group was given ip STZ(30mg.kg-1),when blood glucose over11.1mmol/L were assigned to T2DM rats group established successful. After then the T2DM rats group divided into three groups randomly:Red Ginseng group(n=20). Rosiglitazone group(n=20)%Model control group(n=20). After i.g. medication for8weeks,the rats were killed. Then Fasting Plasma Glucose(FPG)、Serum total Cholesterol(TC)、Triglyceride(TG)、 LEPTIN、Fasting Serum Insulin (FINS) and Insulin Resistant Index(IRI)=(FINS X FBG)/22.5were tested. As the last step in experiment analysed all data by SPSS16.0software. The measurement data expressed by x±s. The interclass discrepancy compared by Variance analysis method. The significance expresses by P value:When P<0.05was significant; When P<0.01was very significant.Results:1.FPGThe FPG in Red Ginseng group、Rosiglitazone group、Model control group were significantly higher than the normal group (P<0.01), the Red Ginseng group and Rosiglitazone group were decreased significantly compared with Model control group (P<0.01), while there was no difference between Red Ginseng group with Rosiglitazone group (P>0.05)2. FINS、IRIFINS:The FINS in Red Ginseng group、Rosiglitazone group、Model control group were significantly higher than the normal group(P<0.01), the Red Ginseng group and Rosiglitazone group were decreased significantly compared with Model control group (P<0.01), The FINS level in Red Ginseng group is little higher than Rosiglitazone group (P<0.05). IRI:The IRI in Red Ginseng group、Rosiglitazone group、Model control group were significantly higher than the normal group (P<0.01), the Red Ginseng group and Rosiglitazone group were decreased significantly compared with Model control group (P<0.01), while there was no difference between Red Ginseng group with Rosiglitazone group (P>0.05)3.TCTGTC:The TC in Red Ginseng group、Rosiglitazone group、Model control group were significantly higher than the normal group (P<0.01), the Red Ginseng group and Rosiglitazone group were decreased significantly compared with Model control group (P<0.01), The TC level in Red Ginseng group is little lower than Rosiglitazone group (P<0.05)TG:The TG in Red Ginseng group、Rosiglitazone group. Model control group were significantly higher than the normal group (P<0.01), the Red Ginseng group and Rosiglitazone group were decreased significantly compared with Model control group (P<0.01), The TG level in Red Ginseng group is little higher than Rosiglitazone group (P<0.05).4. LEPTINThe LEPTIN in Red Ginseng group、Rosiglitazone group、Model control group were significantly higher than the normal group (P<0.01), the Red Ginseng group and Rosiglitazone group were decreased significantly compared with Model control group (P<0.01), The LEPTIN level in Red Ginseng group is little higher than Rosiglitazone group (P<0.05)Conclusion:Red ginseng could decrease the blood glucose, enhance the insulin sensitivity and regulate lipid metabolism.
