Modern pharmacological studies have shown that, Scrophulariae radix has to enhance immunity, anti-tumor, blood pressure lowering,anti-oxidant,hepatoprotective, anti-gout, protect the nervous system and impr-ove memory in many aspects of the role.The chemical constituents isolated from Scrophulariae radix50mai-nly contains iridoid glycosides,phenylpropanoid glycosides, volatile oil and organic acids,19kinds of iridoid glycosides from Scrophulariae radix its compound nucleus to Harpagide for harpagoside and harpagide and6-O-methyl-catalpol, catalpol nucleus,1-dehydroxy-3,4-dihydroaucubigeinn and aucubin.The Scrophulariae radix cyclenic ethers terpene glycoside and phenylpropanoid glycosides are considered the active ingredients of the Scrophulariaceae.Commercial harpagoside content of the active ingre-dient in the Scrophulariaceae herbs from0.01%to0.2%, the difference of of their content difference of about twenty times, we can see that its com-position is not stability.Iridoid glycosides and phenylpropanoid glycosides susceptible to the influence of light, heat,oxygen and enzymes,and vulnerable to oxidation and hydrolysis. As the drying time, iridoid glycosides and phenylpropa-noid glycosides during the drying process is vulnerable to oxidation and hydrolysis decreased generate cinnamic acid or other ingredients.
