Objective:In this subject it was under the guidance of the concept of moist healing, the combined application of resina draconis and Comfeel foam dressing was applied to interfere in diabetes mellitus complicating pressure ulcers and so as to explore the new economic and effective pathway of treating diabetes mellitus complicating pressure ulcers and to provide the theoretical evidence for interfering in the diabetes mellitus complicating pressure ulcers with traditional Chinese medicine. Methods:A total of60cases of diabetes mellitus complicating pressure ulcers in stage II and III was recruited in this trial and randomly divided into three groups with20cases in each group:control group1(wound surface treated with resina draconis only), control group2(wound surface treated with Comfeel ulcer paste and Comfeel foam dressing) and observation group (wound surface treated with Comfeel foam dressing after applying resina draconis). After the patients were recruited the basic managements were applied such as controlling the blood sugar with insulin, debriding and rinsing the wound surface with normal sodium and local decompression. Control group1:Several granules of resina draconis capsules (manufactured by Yunnan Yunhe Pharmaceutical Com. Ltd.,0.3g×12#×2plates) were taken and powder was poured out,75%alcohol dropped in and stirred to be paste and then well-applied on the cleaned wounds, the wound surface should be completely covered. Covered the wound with gauze when it became dry and promptly cleaned the effusion.. Control group2:The Comfeel ulcer paste was completely applied on the wound surface after the basic management was used and Comfeel foam dressing was pasted upon the surface of the wound.. Observation group:The similar method used in control group1was applied to the observation group, the resina draconis was applied on the pressure ulcers and Comfeel foam dressing was used after the resina draconis became dry, noticing the mucilage part to avoid contacting the resina draconis. General speaking, the dressing was changed every five days, the dressing change frequency depends upon the situations of wound effusion, wound polluted or not, physic liquor covered or not and whether the foam became white and the course of dressing change was twenty-five days. Results:The therapeutic efficacy of the pressure ulcers, healing time, dressing change costs, dressing change frequency and polluting times of bed sheets were compared between the observation group and the control group1and there was statistically significant difference (P0.05) while the observation group has better therapeutic efficacy.. There was statistically significant difference between the observation group and the control group1of the healing time of the pressure ulcers wound surface (P<0.05) with the healing time of the observation group much shorter than that of the control group1; There was no obvious difference of the dressing change costs between the observation group and the control group1(P>0.05). There was significant difference of the dressing change frequency between the observation group and the control group1(P<0.05) with the dressing change frequency much less than that of the control group1; There was significant difference of the polluting times between the observation group and the control group1(P<0.05) with much less times in the observation group. The therapeutic efficacy of the pressure ulcers, healing time, dressing change costs, dressing change frequency and polluting times of bed sheets were compared between the observation group and the control group2and there was no statistically significant difference between both groups (P>0.05). There was no obviuos difference between the observation group and the control group2of the healing time of the wound surface (P>0.05); There was statistically significant difference of the dressing change costs between the observation group and the control group2(P<0.05) with the costs of the control group2much higher than that of the observation group. There was significant difference of the dressing change frequency between the observation group and the control group2(P<0.05) with the dressing change frequency much less than that of the control group2; There was significant difference of the polluting times between the observation group and the control group2(P<0.05) with much less times in the observation group.Conclusion:1. The combined application of resina draconis and Comfeel foam dressing can elevate the therapeutic efficacy of treating the pressure ulcers, shorten the healing time of wound, decrease the dressing change frequency and polluting times of bed sheets and don’t increase the patients’ economic burden compared with only resina draconis;2. There were no obvious differences of the therapeutic efficacy of treating the pressure ulcers and the healing time between the group of the combined application of resina draconis and Comfeel foam dressing and the group of Comfeel ulcer paste and foam dressing, but for the group of the combined application of resina draconis and Comfeel foam dressing the dressing change frequency and polluting times of bed sheets were reduced and the dressing change costs were decreased to lessen the patients’economic burden.
