Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy and its mechanism of the method of invigorating spleen to reduce phlegm in the treatment of functional dyspepsia.Methods:The60patients with FD who were selected were randomly divided into treatment group with30cases and control group with30cases. All cases were diagnosed according to the criterion of the syndrome of phlegm retention duo to deficiency in spleen in TCM, functional dyspepsia in western medicine. The cases in the treatment group were given Chinese medicine prescription for invigorating spleen to resolve phlegm, twice a day, once each in morning and evening. And the cases in control group were given Domperidone,10mg,3times a day,30minutes before each meal, the course of the treatment lasted12weeks. During treatment, the symptoms and signs and adverse reactions were recorded in detail. At the beginning and the end of the treatment, the levels of plasma gastrin and somatostatin were measured.Results:1.The total effective rate of the treatment group was93.3%and that of the control group was66.7%.The total effective rate of the treatment group was obviously superior to that of the control group, with a significant difference (p<0.05). The improvement of total symptom scores after treatment of two groups was obviously superior to that of before treatment, with a significant difference (p<0.05), the treatmnet group improving significantly better than the control, with a significant difference (p<0.05).2. The difference in the levels of plasma gastrin and somatostatin was a significant before and after treatment in the two groups respectively(p<0.05). At the same time There was a significant difference in the levels of somatostatin between the two groups after the treatment(p<0.05), while no significant difference in gastrin(p>0.05).Conclusion:1.The method of invigorating spleen to reduce phlegm can significantly improve the clinical symptoms.2. The method of invigorating spleen to reduce phlegm can increase the level of plasma gastrin, and decrease somatostatin. The mechanism of the method of invigorating spleen to reduce phlegm in treatment of FD may be associated with regulating the somatostatin and gastrin secretion.3. The method of invigorating spleen to reduce phlegm has the characters of reliable curative effect, less adverse reaction, low price and good patient compliance,it can impove the quality of life of patients, reduce the economic burden of the patients, and has good social and economic benefits.
