The purposes of this study are as follows:(1)to investigate the communicationproblems and counseling strategies for Autistic children;(2)to investigate theeffectiveness of increasing communication behavior through the instructional strategiesof Augmentative and Alternative Communication(AAC)for Autistic children;(3)togather the strategies and suggestions based on the assistive technology practitioners whoprovided AAC services to Autistic children.Participants in the study is a low-verbal female student with Autism,which is13years old.Effect of the intervention was evaluated in a multiple-baseline design acrossbehaviors.The researcher used observations,assessments,experiments,interviews anddocumenting the subject how to use appropriate strategies to instrut Autisticchildren.Based on analyzing the data mentioned,the results of the study findings are asfollows:(1) the communication problems and counseling strategies for Autisticchildren:The research found the language and communication defects of Autisticchildren could derivative the problems of the communication intention andcommunication skills, which led to the whole communication difficults.Inaddition,parents,teachers,and professional team would provide a variety of AACcounseling and multiple communication strategies to help the subject to conquer hercommunication problems.(2) the effectiveness of increasing communication behavior through theinstructional strategies of Augmentative and Alternative Communication(AAC)forAutistic children:the result of study shows:a.The number of times and level that theparticipant presented self-demand by AAC insrease;b.The number of times and levelthat the participant presented learning interaction by AAC insrease,but the mumber of times does not keep well;c. The number of times and level that the participant presentedsocial interaction by AAC increase;d.The participant in the school of the ecologicalenvironment of the effect is obvious;e.Teachers of participant are roughly satisfied withthe effects of the intervention.(3) the strategies and suggestions based on the assistive technologypractitionerswho provided AAC services to Autistic children:The findings were expounded by sixsteps of AAC operation procedure:receive the caseâ†'assessmentâ†'suggestion andreportâ†'performanceâ†'continuationâ†'tracking,in every step the assistivetechnology practitioners who provided AAC services should particularly pay attentionto some points.Finally,based on the above findings,the researcher also made several suggestions togovernment,teachers and related professionals,and the researchers who interest in thearea of AAC and Autistic children.
