Objective:To investigate the relationship between Serum C-reactive proteinlevel with carotid intima-media thickness,the extent of neurological impairment andactivities of daily living in acute atherothrombotic ischemic cerebral infarctionpatients.Methods:One hundred and thirty eight patients with acute atherothromboticischemic cerebral infarction from the Second Affiliated Hospital of NanchangUniversity the department of Neurology were enrolled.All patients underwentneurological deficit and daily living score on the day of admission, the scale is usedwith Chinese Stroke Scale (CSS) and Barthel Index.A carotid color dopple ultrasoundwas performed to measuring the IMT of the common carotid artery.The determinationof Serum CRP, creatinine(Cr),glucose, triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC), lowdensity lipoprotein(LDL),high density lipoprotein(HDL) and homocysteine(Hcy)were detected.The data were analyzed and compared.Statistical analysis was perform-ed using SPSS17.0.Ispection level α is0.05,and it is statistics significant when P islower than0.05.Results:1. In acute atherothrombotic ischemic cerebral infarction patients,compared withthe normal IMT group, hypertension,diabetes,LDL,TG,CRP of the thickening IMT gr-oup was significantly higher than the normal IMT group.The differences between twogroups were statistically significant.2. In acute atherothrombotic ischemic cerebral infarction patients,to take thethickening IMT and the normal IMTgroup as dependent variables(the thickeningIMT=1, the normal IMTgroup=0), hypertension,diabetes,LDL,TG,CRP as dependentvariables. The result is that serum CRP is the independent risk factor of carotid arteryIMT.(OR=4.109,95%CI=1.819-9.282,P=0.001)3. In acute atherothrombotic ischemic cerebral infarction patients,carotid artery(Y) and serum CRP level(X) make a simple correlation analysis. The resultsshow Spearman correlation coefficient r is0.508(P=0.000),indicating that the carotidartery IMT and serum CRP levels are positive correlated.4. In the patients with acute atherothrombotic ischemic cerebral infarction,theserum CRP level in heavy group is higher than the medium-sized group [(5.73±1.96)mg/l VS(4.09±1.41)mg/l,P<0.05]. The serum CRP level in the medium-sized ishigher than the light group [(4.09±1.41)mg/l VS (2.88±1.32)mg/l,P<0.05]. Theserum CRP level in heavy group is higher than the light group ([5.73±1.96)mg/l VS(2.88±1.32)mg/l,P<0.05], C-reactive protetin concentration is positive correlationwith CSS evaluation(r=0.635,P=0.000).5. In the patients with acute atherothrombotic ischemic cerebral infarction,thelevel of serum CRP in good group is lower than the poor group[(2.92±1.32)mg/l VS(5.72±1.91)mg/l,P<0.05]. The of serum CRP in good group is lower than the fairgroup[(2.92±1.32)mg/l VS (3.70±1.15)mg/l,P<0.05]. The of serum CRP in fairgroup is lower than the poor group([3.70±1.15)mg/l VS(5.72±1.91)mg/l,P<0.05].C-reactive protetin concentration is negatively correlation with Barthel Index(r=-0.681,P=0.000).Conclusions:1. In acute atherothrombotic ischemic cerebral infarction patients, serum CRP isthe independent risk factor of carotid artery intimamedia thickening,the carotid arteryIMT and serum CRP levels are positive correlated.2. In the patients with acute atherothrombotic ischemic cerebral infarction,theserum CRP level is positively crrelated with the severity of neurological impairm-ent,and is negatively correlated with the Barthel index.
