| Objective To study the age and geographical differences of mineral element in the wholeblood among children aged from0to six, as well as how to prevent and cure the insufficiency. Methods Base on the survey of five kinds of trace elements level in the whole blood of children which published during August2007to December2010, the data were divided into three groups according to age (<1year,1to3years,3to6years). SPSS software13.0was used to analyze the mineral elements deficiency among the three groups. Results Children in the three groups were all found to be lack of the five mineral elementsin different levels.<1year old group were compared to1-3years old group respectively, and the difference between the groups have statistic significance in the zinc deficiency rate (P<0.05);<1year old group were compared to3-6years old group respectively, and the difference between the groups have statistic significance in the zinc deficiency rate (P<0.01); the copper, zinc, calcium and magnesium deficiency rates had no statistical difference(P>0.05), see table2. The eastern region (including:Hebei, Shandong, Zhejiang) compared with the western region (including:Guangxi, Sichuan, Gansu), Zn deficiencies in<1year group were significant differences (P<0.05). The central region (including:Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi) compared with the western region, Fe deficiencies were significant differences (P<0.05). The eastern region compared with western region, Fe deficiencies in3to6age group were significant differences (P<0.01). The paper discusses the specific sugesstions of how to prevent and treat the deficiency of Copper, magnesium, calcium, zinc and iron. What’s more, the paper lists the recommended dietary mimeral elements intake of both China Nutrition Association and WTO. Conclusion In China three main aspects which include environmental intervention, health education and nutrition intervention are important in the prevention and treat of children’s mineral elements deficiency. However, nutrition intervention is the most important. Detection and statistics of mineral elements of children are needed to establish a local children mineral elements database. When analyzing mineral elements in blood among children, researchers should take the age and geographical differences into consideration. The results of this study also suggest specific reference ranges be made according to the region and the age. |
