Backgrounds:The esophageal carcinoma is one of common malignant tumors of digestive system.The incidence rate in malignant tumors is situated in sixth in the world.Seventy percent of esophageal carcinomas were happened in China and the incidence rate is situated in fourth.The features is difficult with early diagnosis and bad prognosis,the male incidence of women are2times.Esophageal hair all over the world each year about300,000cancer cases. The esophageal cancer incidence rate is ten thousand13/10in our country.lt can not be diagnosed in early stage,When the symptoms appear,most of the cancer cells have been diffused and metastasesed.The survival rate in five years of esophageal carcinoma hovered at10percent all the time.The outcome of esophageal carcinoma is far from satisfaction to the advanced stage with metastasesed and recurred patients by the traditional treatment such as surgery,radiotherapy and chemotherapy.If diagnosed and treated in the early stage,however,the survival rate will be greatly improved.Therefore, the best approach to make the patients with esophageal carcinoma live longer is to diagnose and treat in the early stage.Objective:To comprehend the relationship between the expressions of E-cadherin and P120catenin(P120ctn) and the clinical pathological characteristics by observing the expressions them in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC);To analyse the interrelation of the expressions of them;To preliminary explore the relationship between the expressions of them and neoplasms infiltration and the lymph node metastasis in ESCC and its clinical significance;To search the clinical effective and objective parameters for anticipation of lymph node metastasis of ESCC,and to provide a new thinking and breaking for carcinoma treatment.Methods:The clinical datas,which collected,were divided into adjacent noncancerous tissues (n=15)and ESCC tissues(n=70).ESCC tissues were divided into lymph node metastasis(n=43) and no lymph node metastasis(n=27) again.The expressions of E-cadherin and P120ctn in esophagus tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry staining.Spss18.0statistical software was used for statistical analysis.Results:1. In15cases of normal tissues,the positive expression rate of E-cadherin was86.67%(13/15),which was48.57%(34/70) in70cases of ESCC tissues; The positive expression rate of E-cadherin was gradually decreased from normal tissues to ESCC tissues.And there was statistical difference between them(x2=5.510,.P<0.05);In the43cases of lymph node metastasis group,the positive expression rate of E-cadherin was34.88%(15/43),which was70.37%(19/27) in no lymph node metastasis group (x2=4.344, P<0.05).There was negatively correlation between them(rs=-0.916, P<0.01).2. The positive expression rate of E-cadherin in esophagus tissues was not related to patients’gender and age,and the tumor’s size and location,there was no tstatistical difference between them(all P>0.05);However there was negatively correlated with the ESCC TNM staging,degree of differentiation,depth of invasion(all rs<0,P<0.01).3. In15cases of normal tissues,the positive expression rate of P120ctn was80%(12/15),which was50%(35/70) in70cases of ESCC tissues; The positive expression rate of P120ctn was gradually decreased from normal tissues to ESCC tissues.And there was statistical difference between them(x2=5.448, P<0.05);In the43cases of lymph node metastasis group,the positive expression rate of P120ctn was32.56%(14/43),which was74.07%(20/27) in no lymph node metastasis group (x2=4.887, P<0.05).There was negaitively correlation between them(rs=-0.947,P<0.01).4. The positive expression rate of P120ctn in esophagus tissues was not related to patients’gender and age,and the tumor’s size and location,there was no tstatistical difference between them(all,P>0.05);However there was negatively correlated with the ESCC TNM staging,degree of differentiation,depth of invasion(all rs<0, P<0.01). 5. In ESCC tissues,the expression of E-cadherin was positively correlated with the expression of P120ctn(rs=0.676, P<0.05).Conclusion:1. In ESCC tissues, the expression of E-cadherin was significantly lower than in normal tissues,and it was negatively correlated with tumor lymph node metastasis and depth of invasion, Illustrating it that E-cadherin is a good index for forecasting tumor metastasis and evaluating tumor prognosis.2. In ESCC tissues, P120ctn was low expressed,and more lower than mormal tissues;The expression of P120ctn was negatively correlated with tumor lymph node metastasis and depth of invasion, which showed that P120ctn may be plays a very important role in the happening,development,invasion and metastasis of ESCC.So we guessed that P120ctn can also be used as an important index of forecasting tumor metastasis and evaluating tumor prognosis.3. In ESCC tissues,the expression of E-cadherin was positively correlated with the expression of P120ctn,explaining it that there may be exist synergy between E-cadherin and P120ctn in the happenment and development of ESCC.So combined detection of them can be used as an important referential indexe to predict ESCC happening,metastasis and evaluating prognosis.
