Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge var. alba C. Y. Wu et H. W Li is diffient from Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge(Danshen), whose coronal is white of light yellow. It is mainly distributed over Tai’an and Zhangqiu district, Shandong Province. It is proved that Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge var. alba C.Y.wu et H.W.Li is helpful to cure hypertension and hyperlipemia. In this paper, we continued our study on the basis of the early reseaches, and11compounds were obtained from the roots of it by chromatographic techniques and their structures were elueidated by spectroseopic analysis. The11compounds are5-hydroxymethylfurfural, caffeic acid, danshensu, protocatechuic acid, phenol,3-[(1E)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl], pro-lithospermic acid, methyl pro-lithospermate, lithospermic acid, methyl lithospermate, dimethyl lithospermate, salvianolic acid B, and5-hydroxymethylfurfural, protocatechuic acid, phenol,3-[(1E)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl) ethenyl], pro-lithospermic acid, methyl pro-lithospermate, lithospermic acid, methyl lithospermate and dimethyl lithospermate, were isolated from the plant for the first time. The results of researches have shown that the chemical constituents of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge var. alba C. Y. Wu et H. W Li and Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge are basically composed by fat-soluble tanshinone compounds and water-soluble salvianolic acid compounds. The root of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge var. alba C. Y Wu et H. W Li is used as the root of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge in clinical practice, with effective action in vascular ectasis and specially clinical application to cure thromboangiitis obliterans (TAO). To investigate the effect of the root of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge var. alba C. Y. Wu et H. W Li on the rat models with thromboangitis obliterans, we prepared and analyzed the composition of total tanshinones and total salvianolic acids from Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge var. alba C. Y Wu et H. W Li by HPLC/UV/MS, prepared thromboangitis obliterans rat models by injecting lauric acid into the femoral artery of rats, and observed the changes of physical signs, pathologic grading of thrombus and the contents of TXB2, ET and6-K-PGF1α in serum of these rat models after treating with total tanshinones and total salvianolic acids. Significantly improved lesion was seen in the animals of treating group, with reduced number of thrombus formatron, decreased content of TXB2, ET and increased content of6-K-PGF1α. Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge var. alba C. Y. Wu et H. W Li hold significant therapeutic effect on experimental thromboangitis obliterans prepared among rats. The possible mechanisms for this effect may be achieved by improving anti-thrombus thrombolysis, antioxidant function of vessel endothelia and inhibiting inflammatory reaction in vascular wall.
