Objective: To analyze the self-repairing capability of different bone defects under thecircumstances both without guided bone regeneration (GBR) technology and bone graftsubstitutes. Methods: Formed a standard gradient of bone defect with length5mm, vertical level5mm depth, the horizontal width of1,2,3,4,5mm on both sides of dog’s mandible; eachside was directly sutured. Put the experimental animal to death after6weeks and12weeks, then observe the every types of bone defect under the microscope. Results: Bone defect, of which the horizontal width less than2mm in the condition ofwithout any treatment can be fully obtained under12weeks; of which the horizontalwidth more than3mm can get some osseous recovered, however, regenerated bonesoften have poor quality. Conclusion: Bone defect of which the horizontal width less than2mm often havestrong ability to repair itself, such bone regeneration don’t take any interventionmeasures.
