This essay mainly discussed the theory of correspondence between man and universeinitiated in Huangdi Neijing, Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor,(herein after referred to asNeijing) and its guidance towards acupuncture. By selecting, analyzing and classifying, itcomes to the conclusion that the theory of correspondence between man and universe iswidely used in Neijing and plays an important part in it. This theory is illustrated inNeijing in the following aspects: there is conformity between the law of nature and the lawof human existence. Human body and nature are an organic whole. It is nature that createshuman body. There is a communication and correspondence between man and nature.Human body is directly influenced by natural environment. Its influence on acupuncture isshown in four aspects: the making of the needles and their usage, the influences onacupuncture exerted by the temperature of the day and the phases of the moon, by thetiming of acupuncture and by pathogenic factors. In short, its guidance towards clinicalacupuncture should not be neglected.
