"The unity of heaven and man" is the core academic thought of traditional Chinese medicine, which means that the temporal rhythm dominated by the sun, moon and stars has an impact on natural beings,as well as human life activities.Huangdi Neijing pointed out that all human diseases was caused by two deficient aspects, that was,the vital weakness of body and special time features which contained the decline of the year, the empty moon and the climatic unevenness. The time rhythm of year, month and day exerts an intervention effect on the mental state of human body by affecting the movement of qi and blood, the increase or decrease of Yin and Yang and the function of five internal organs.Huangdi Neijing records in detail the relationship between circadian rhythm, lunar cycle and Yunqi rhythm and the occurrence and remission of various mental symptoms, which provides important clues for the later studies on the pathogenesis of mental diseases.Schizophrenia is a severe mental illness with a high morbidity and disability and the cause of disease is still unclear. It is the focus of current research to explore the risk factors of schizophrenia from multiple perspectives and levels. In the part of theoretical research,we comprehensively summarized the symptoms and diseases related to schizophrenia in Huangdi Neijing and explored the aggravation and remission rhythm of related symptoms,so as to provide theoretical support for subsequent research. In data analysis part, based on a large sample of clinical data,we dig into the lunar and Yunqi characteristics of the onset time of schizophrenia. We also analyzed the effect of moon phase and Yunqi rhythm on the risk of developing schizophrenia in the future,This study is of great value in avoiding the risk of developing schizophrenia and improving the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment.1.ObjectiveTaking the Central China as the research site,to explore the influence of moon phase and Yunqi theory on the incidence of schizophrenia.By analyzing the differences of lunar phase characteristics and Yunqi characteristics between schizophrenia and non-schizophrenia at the time of birth and conception to reveal the key factors related to developing schizophrenia.2.MethodsIn the part of theoretical discussion, the schizophrenia-related symptoms in Huangdi Neijing were classified from three perspectives:perception disorder, thinking disorder and emotion disorder. We summarized the related etiology and pathogenesis, and further explored the aggravating and relieving pattern of lunar cycle, seasonal rhythm and Yunqi rhythm. In the data analysis section, the data which we based on in the study of the correlation between lunar phases and Yunqi characteristics and the incidence of schizophrenia were provided by Yu Nan Mental Health Center from 2012 to 2018.In the study of the correlation between lunar phase,Yunqi characteristics and developing of schizophrenia, the schizophrenia data were provided by Yu Na Mental Health Center,Shandong Mental Health Center and Beijing Huilongguan Hospital, from January 2012 to July 2018.The native place of these patients were Henan,Shandong and Beijing. The control group was non-schizophrenic case data provided by Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2012 to December 2015.The native place of these people were Henan,Shandong and Beijing as well. After strict exclusion,we established the databases of the schizophrenia in three mental health centers and the non-patient database of Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.A total of 30079 schizophrenic patients and 50898 non-schizophrenic patients were included in the database. The patient's admission date, date of birth and date of conception were transformed by lunar phases and Yunqi theory including Suiyun,Sitian,Zhuyun and Keqi.SPSS26.0 software was used for statistical processing.Chi-square test was used to analyze the difference of the composition ratio of admission time, birth time and conception time under different lunar phases and Yunqi rhythm of schizophrenic patients.Binary and multiple logistic regression analysis was used to further identify the relationship between the onset time of schizophrenia and the carecterstic of lunar cycle,Suiyun+Sitian and Zhuyun+Keqi, and assess the born time and conception of time belongs to the moon, the age+tianfeng features, main transport+kind with relation to suffer from schizophrenia.3.Results(1)Relationship between moon phases and the incidence of schizophreniaPsychiatric admissions for schizophrenia varied significantly across the lunar cycle, peaking in the first quarter, followed by the full moon, and lowest at the new moon.Using unspecified schizophrenia as reference, people with paranoid schizophrenia were more likely to be admitted in the full moon than in other phases.(2)Relationship between moon phases of birth and conception time and risk of developing schizophreniaThere was a statistical difference in the moon phases of the birth time between schizophrenics and non-schizophrenics.We found that being born in the new moon could increas the risk of developing schizophrenia. There was no significant association between the moon phase of conception and developing schizophrenia.(3)Relationship between Yunqi characteristics and the incidence of schizophreniaThere was a difference in the incidence of schizophrenia with positive symptoms and non-positive symptoms between years and six steps of the year. The years with the highest risk of schizophrenia onset with positive symptoms were characterized by muyun excess+taiyanghanshui dominance, and the years with the lowest were characterized by muyun insufficient+yangmingzaojin dominance. The period with highest risk of schizophrenia onset with positive symptoms were characterized by taijiao+shaoyangxianghuo and taijiao+yangmingzaojin, and the lowest risk period were characterized by taishang+jueyinfengmu.(4)Relationship between the Yunqi characteristics of birth and conception time and risk of developing schizophreniaThere were statistical differences in the characteristics of Yunqi at birth and conception between schizophrenia and non-schizophrenia.In terms of suiyun+sitian characteristics, birth and conception in the year characterized by "tianxing" will increase the risk of suffering from schizophrenia. In terms of zhuyun+keqi characteristics, conception in the second qi and birth in the final qi will increase the risk of developing schizophrenia.4.Conclusion(1)The condition of schizophrenia is influenced by lunar phases and Yunqi rhythm. The full moon increases the risk of paranoid schizophrenia,in which positive mental symptoms such as delusions, hallucinations and behavioral disorders tend to worsen.Yunqi characterized by blazing of fire and suppression of fire will increase the onset risk of positive symptoms of schizophrenia. Therefore, patients, their families and hospitals should strengthen the observation of the condition of schizophrenic patients with positive symptoms, and take corresponding preventive and therapeutic measures in advance.(2)The risk of developing schizophrenia also tends to be affected by lunar phases and Yunqi rhythm.Conception and birth in the "tianxing" year, being conceived in the second qi and being born in the final qi will increase the risk of developing schizophrenia. The results reflect that in addition to the genetic factors, the gasification characteristics of heaven and earth at the time of conception and birth play an important role in the occurrence of acquired diseases. So we suggest people with genetic predisposition to schizophrenia avoid the specific time of conception to reduce the risk of developing schizophrenia in the future.
