ObjectiveOsteoarthritis of the knee, also known as knee degenerative joint disease, is a hazard in the health of the elderly with chronic degenerative joint disease. It ranks first in the limbs joint diseases. The main pathological features is degenerative changes of articular cartilage, including articular cartilage degeneration, destruction, sclerosis of subchondral bone and osteophyte formation. It also involves the synovial membrane, joint capsule and other structures of the joint. It is a common and frequent disease in orthopaedics. Statistics show that3%of the total population of our country are suffering from OA, and most of them are KOA. The X-ray in55-year-old crowd shows KOA performance by about60%, and the rate rises to85%in65-year-old crowd. Because of the population aging, more and more people suffer from this disease, but the course of the disease is long, and the condition is complicated. It is hard to treat, and the efficacy is not plaus ible. So it brings a heavy burden on patients and their families. At present, we often use the oral medication to treat this disease, including analgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and even hormones, which are to rel ieve pain temporarily in patients. But they have side effects and long-term effect is not obvious. For the pathologic features of articular cartilage degeneration in osteoarthritis of the knee, we use sodium hyaluronate which is injected into the knee joint cavity and take yanghetang to treat this disease in clinical. We have achieved a good therapeutic effect, and it reduces the adverse events. So a retrospective summary was made regarding the subject "The clinical research of sodium hyaluronate injection into the knee joint cavity with taking Yanghetang to treat osteoarthritis of the knee" in order to clarify the efficacy of this treatment.MethodWe collected the outpatients and inpatients of osteoarthritis of the knee in our department from2010to2011. According to the treatment, we divided them into the combined group, SH group, and traditional Chinese medicine group. Each group had30cases. Then we had counted, researched and analyzed the treatment results and the follow-up results after six months.ResultThe clinical research confirms that:1. Sodium hyaluronate injection into the knee joint cavity with taking Yanghetang treatment group (combined group) to treat osteoarthritis of the knee has the effective rate of96.67%; Sodium hyaluronate injection into the knee joint cavity treatment group (SH group) to treat osteoarthritis of the knee has the effective rate of83.33%; Only taking Yanghetang treatment group (TCM group) to treat osteoarthritis of the knee has the effective rate of70.00%; Through the Ridit Analysis, the combined group to relieve pain and restore joint function are better than the SH group and the Chinese medicine group.2. The treatment of sodium hyaluronate injection into the knee joint cavity with taking Yanghetang, sodium hyaluronate injection into the knee joint cavity only and taking Yanghetang only, all can improve the easeclinical symptoms of osteoarthritis of the knee, relieve the joint pain, restore joint function, The statistical analysis confirms that the efficacy of the combined group is better than the SH group and the TCM group.3. The recurrence rate of the combined group is lowwer than the SH group and the TCM group, it shows that the long-term efficacy of the combined group is better than the SH group and the TCM group.ConclusionClinical study has confirmed that the treatment of sodium hyaluronate injection into the knee joint cavity with taking Yanghetang can improve the clinical symptoms of knee osteoarthritis significantly, relieve the joint pain and restore joint function. The efficacy of the combined group is much better than the SH group and the TCM group. It also has proved the treatment of taking Yanghetang and sodium hyaluronate injection into the knee joint cavity are used to treat osteoarthritis of the knee at the same time having a synergies efficiently. Simultaneously, it has a good short-term and long-term efficacy, with a low incidence of the adverse reantions and non-toxic side effects.
