Objective: To compare the result of laparoscopic and open resection for gastricstromal tumors, and investigate the feasibility of laparoscopic resection. Methods: Atotal of29Patients with gastric stromal tumors from January2007to December2011were divided into2groups: laparoscopy group an open resection group. Therewere15patients performed laparoscopic resection,14patients treated by open resection. Researchincluding the reasons for treatment, age, operation type, operation time, the intraoperativeblood loss, the size of tumor diameter, the exhaust time and the length of hospital after theoperation. Results: The operation time in the laparoscopy group was (78.8722.168) min,the operation time in the open resection group (157.2166.555) min, There wassignificant difference in the operation time between the two groups (P<0.05).There wasno significant difference in the size of tumor diameter between the two groups (P>0.05).The blood loss in the laparoscopy group was (15.0020) ml, significantly lessthan that in the open resection group (120.00426) ml (P<0.05).The exhaust time andthe length of hospital stay after the operation in the laparoscopy group were(2.001)dand(7.003)d respectively, significantly shorter than those in the open resection group(3.002)d and (10.004)d (P<0.05). The pathological diagnosis were all gastricstromal tumors after the operation. Follow up the observation for (3-24) months, norecurrence or metastasis was detected. Conclusion: Laparoscopic resection of gastricstromal tumors can be performed safely and effectively in patients with gastric stromaltumor with the advantage of minimal invasiveness and good clinical efficacy.
