Objective:To explore the clinical value of strain rate imaging (SRI)technology and Tei index in evaluating the left ventricular cardiac diastolicfunction in patients with essential hypertension.Methods:forty-nine hypertensive subjects and thirty-two healthy controlswere enrolled and examined with conventional echocardiography includingLeft ventricular mass index (LVMI). Then hypertension subjects were dividedinto two groups with respect to LVMI as Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH)and Non-LVH (NLVH). Using Tissue Doppler Imaging (TDI) recorded theposteriorleaft mitral annulus movement and calculated Tei index. The movementinclude systolic wave s, early diastolic wave e and late diastlolic wave a inevery period. The interval between cessation of late diastolic wave a to onset ofthe next early diastolic wave e is a1. The interval between onset to cessation ofthe wave s is b1. The left ventricular Tei is calculated as (a1-b1)/b1. Then All ofthe subjects were examined by Srain Rate Imaging (SRI). SRe during earlydiastole and SRa during late diastole were measured. MSRe、mSRa andmSRe/mSRa were obtained.Results:1、The left ventricular Tei index in patients with hypertension washigher than control group significantly (P﹤0.05); Tei index of group LVH was significantly higher than goup NLVH (P﹤0.05).2、MSRe and mSRe/mSRa inpatients with hypertension were significantly lower than control group (P﹤0.05);mSRe and mSRe/mSRa of group LVH were significantly lower than goupNLVH (P﹤0.05);while the difference of mSRa among goups control LVH andNLVH was not significant.3、The left ventricular Tei index was assciated withmSRe (r=-0.77, P<0.001) and mSRe/mSRa (r=-0.75,P<0.001).Conclusions:1、The left ventricular myocardial regional and global earlydiastolic function in patients with essential hypertension all were differentlydegree damaged; The early diastolic function damage appeared earlier and moreobvious than contractive function.2、In the patients with LVH left ventricularmyocardial regional and global diastolic damage were severer, and leftventricular diastolic dysfunction was closely related to LVH.3、MSRe andmSRe/mSRa measured by SRI could evaluates the left ventricular myocardiallocal diastolic function, while Tei index is exact to evaluate the left ventricularfunction.4、SRI association with the left ventricular Tei index by TDI, as anew、noninvasive and accurate method to evaluate the degree of clinincdiseases everity and prognosis, was more overall and objective assessment of theleft ventricular myocardial regional and global early diastolic function.
