| State Council of China issued a Circular in2009titled ’Note on Strengthening Reforms of China’s Medical and Public Health System’. The Note calls for "vigorously promoting digitalization of China’s medical and public health information system","integrating resources available and promoting standardization; setting up public service information platform and gradually enhancing its effectiveness and realizing interconnection and interworking (of data)". In another document, the "Outline for the Development of National Information System", an ambitious target was set to "launch pilot projects and to carry out research on the establishment of regional public health information system in cities (and city districts) as well as to build demonstration areas (best practices) for others to follow".Digitalization of regional public health information is an irreversible trend in the course of China’s social development. This is also one of the key tasks to reform China’s medicine and public health system. China’s public health information system is one of the essential measures taken during China’s medical system reform; it promotes social acceptance in setting up patients’digital medication records and their personal health profiles. This will be of great help in the development of uniformed health service platform, information dissemination platform and supporting platform for public health management in China.Regional public health information platform is a complicated and systematic project which requires an overall plan with goals that can be implemented in sequential phases. Digitalized hospital is a key component of the regional public health information. The establishment of clinical information system is an important task for the digitalization of hospitals at the present stage.This article compares and analyses status quo of public health information system of China and abroad as well as the Haidian District of Beijing. It tries to identify key issues in Haidian’s public health information system and proposes its improvement. Taken into consideration of the Haidian’s overall public health information platform, this article also explores solutions for digitalization of hospitals in Haidian. |
