Objective：This study aims to through summarizing the academic thoughtsof zhongjing’s about diabetes, by collecting a large number ofclinical reports and related documents，to classical prescriptionas the object, the treatment of diabetes as the main line,focusedthe research on clinical applying and the regular pattern ofsyndrome and treatment of the classical prescription, so as toprovide some useful reference for the Chinese medicine treatmentof diabetes.Method：By way of literature research, this paper discusses zhongjing’sunderstanding about diabetes, including etiology, primary symptomand syndrome differentiation and treatment, etc., summarizes thezhongjing’s contribution to the diabetes. At the same time，throughcollecting today’s literature about the classical prescriptiontreating diabetes and the complications, sum up some classicalprescriptions that be used more, and enumerate the disease syndromes and formulas.For the most widely used ones, detaileveryone’s etiology and pathogenesis,syndrome and clinicalcure,and later generations’ understanding and using.And later forthe classical prescriptions ’s use contains the acknowledgement bythe experience of the classical prescriptions applying, theextension use, the classical prescriptions applying indications,commonly used dose usage, commonly used compatibility or additionand subtraction, and so on.Results：There are more than dozens of prescriptions used often in thetreatment of diabetes and its complications, among them,the mostwidely used in clinical application are: White Tiger Decoction withGinseng, Peach Kernel Purgative Decoction,Major BupleurumDecoction and Sini Power, Pinellia Heart-Draining Decoction,Zhenwu Decoction, Astragalus and Cinnamou Twig Five IngredientsDecoction, Kidney Qi Pill,Gegen Qinlian Decoction and so on.Accordingly, the classical prescriptions can be used in treatingdiabetes,diabetic gastroparesis, diabetic nephropathy anddiabetic peripheral neuropathy. According to the literature, thefact can be found that the classical prescriptions can be used bythe later generations more widely,and can be effective intreatment.Meanwhile,the aspect of the classical prescriptions inthe treatment of diabetes and its complications also can reflectsthe characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine that treat thesame disease with different methods and treat different diseaseswith same method.Conclusion:The classical prescriptions has long been used in the treatment of diabetes and complications, the classical prescriptions notonly can be widely used to treat this disease, and the curativeeffect is distinct. Applying the prescription to treat diabetes andits complications can refer to the following: The classicalprescriptions and syndrome correspongding is the basic principlesof using the classical prescriptions.Only when disease isaccordingly with the person,can take medicine.Clinical applicationby the classical prescriptions need to closely related to thepathogenesis that the classical prescriptions and syndromecorresponding to, and only can use it when the pathogenesis is thesame.Primary symptom is the key of a syndrome different from theother syndrome, so in the clinic,if you want to achieve thecorresponding of the classical prescriptions and syndrome,youneed to seize the primary symptom of the disease.
