The whole process of human’s growth, illness and death is along with the interactiveand coordinated movement of a unity of the opposites between the systems of the body andexternal environment. The regulating and controlling mechanism of restrainingexcessiveness to acquire harmony in Huangdi Neijing (Huangdi’s Classic of Medicine) isthe natural regulation mechanism which is based on the holism of the correspondencebetween human and nature. The restraining excessiveness to acquire harmony therapycenters on the theories of Yin and Yang and five elements, widely covers the field of TCMphysiology and pathology. And it advocates achieving a stable and orderly health state ofthe body by restraining and reinforcing each other. In the view of multidiscipline, with the aid of modern scientific achievements andmeans, the project makes further interpretation and research on association aboutrestraining excessiveness to acquire harmony in Huangdi Neijing (Huangdi’s Classic ofMedicine) through related theories like cybernetics, system theory, dissipative structuretheory, molecular biology etc. From the analysis of cybernetics principle, restrainingexcessiveness to acquire harmony is a kind of negative feedback, whose control methodhas the dual nature of the instruction and feedback. From the basic principle of systemtheory analysis, the restraining excessiveness to acquire harmony is the whole regulationunder the guidance of systematic entirety; it is paradoxical regulation under the guidanceof system concept of contact; it is independent regulation under the guidance of systemself-organization;it is the function regulation under the guidance of steady state systemview. From the dissipative structure theory analysis, restraining excessiveness to acquireharmony is a kind of neg-entropy change in which human constantly absorb enoughneg-entropy from nature, consume neg-entropy, and fight the chaos produced by himselfaccording to the law of the unity of opposites of Yin and Yang and generation, restriction, subjugation, counter-restriction of the five elements. From the perspective of molecularbiology, restraining excessiveness to acquire harmony is "natural selection, the fittestsurvival" natural ecological regulation mechanism; it is the genetic restriction mechanismin the process of polygenic inheritance; it is regulatory mechanism of the ring nucleotide inthe process of life activity.According to the study, human body is a highly unified organism, of which each part islinked and combined to the others so closely that they developed into complicated, morevariable and parametric life activities finally. Meanwhile, human body is also a exotericmacro-system, keeping exchanges with its outside world on substances, energy andinformation. Then motions and changes of nature will influence the human body directly orindirectly. The human body is governed not only by the laws of their own lives’ activities, but also by the nature motion variation, the laws of social development and the dominationof thinking; the human body itself has a self-healing ability to resist various diseases, the primary task of treatment is to provide the conditions that makes the natural healing powerwork well, assisting in the body recovery. It will not contribute to the development ofmedicine and it also can’t achieve the purpose of understanding human body if we studyhuman viscera isolatedly. The purpose of studying the mechanism of restraining excessiveness to acquireharmony is to explore the connotation of Huangdi Neijing (Huangdi’s classic of medicine)and its linked subject, search for the reflected life, reveal its nature, and find its scientificworth, which also makes TCM independent from the long-term scientific thinking ofWestern medicine, and it opens up another way of studying the unique theory system ofTCM.All above make TCM more likely to obtain significant progress and breakthrough.
