Water, that is essential to all known forms of life, the softest and most yielding element, nourishes everythings on earth. Since the connotation of water is abundant in the traditional Chinese thoughts, water become a comparison to flexible diathesis and standing aloof from the worldly affairs in ancient Chinese literature. What's more, The abundant connotation of water Permeates into Huangdi Neijing (Huangdi's Classic on Medicine) because many TCM theories stem from the traditional Chinese thoughts. To inherit and develop the traditional Chinese thoughts and probe the the fundamental theory and the mode of thinking of Huangdi Neijing, literature research and theory exploration were carried out. We collected the articles, summed up and analyzed the correlated concepts of water (ie, fluid). Then we find the recognition of Yin and Yang, Five Elements, Organs, Acupuncture Meridian and Acupoints, Qi, Blood and Fluid in Huangdi Neijing are all related to water. The etiological factor, pathogenesis and therapeutics in Huangdi Neijing also reflect the thoughts of adjusting physiological and pathological conditions by regulating the Water.
