Hyperrealism, which was first originated in the 1960s,is a particular type of Realism. In the late sixties, the Hyperrealism gradually became popular in the west, and conflicted with the Abstract Arts which occupied a dominant position.As the 70’s most popular art form in America, the Hyperrealism, which had many features of new science and technology,was actually a variety and subsequent campaign of the Pop Art. Now, the Hyperrealism as a reactionaries of the Abstract Art has been handed down for three generations, having representative just as Chuck Close, Richard Estes and Audrey Flack. Robert Bechteler, Dennis Peterson, etc. are all the most famous Hyperrealism painter In the united states. However, The evaluation in art is not unified. Some people think that it is of the machinery view point to the world, refusing to the humanistic, giving up to the subjective, getting rid of the painting. Also some people think that the Hyperrealism creates a false reality, which is a compelling vision and a simulation based on the reality. It carries out of the contemporary western society between men with its realistic artistic form and hews out a new path for commercial advertisement.The article was made up by three parts:Part 1:SummarySummarizing the definition, origin, creative style, based characteristics, domestic and international development of the Hyperrealism.Part2:The esthetic content of the HyperrealismCompared with the Realism, the aesthetic value of the Hyperrealism was discussed. It is pointed out that the Hyperrealism has more life-oriented subject and is easy to be accepted. The other hand, compared with the Photographic Art, the Hyperrealism has many advanced features of new technology.
