Chinese Made Easy, Learn Chinese with Me and Ni Hao are three series ofChinese textbooks chosen for words comparison, because these three series oftextbooks are aimed at the same students (middle school and high school studentsaboard) while they are produced in different areas (Chinese Continent, Hong Kongand Australia) and can represent features of Chinese Teaching in these areas. Theanalysis contains four main parts: Quantity of Words, Words Ranks and WordsBeyond Outline, Common Words and Words Explanations. Through the data analysisand comparison, we can get their good points and weaknesses and then some piecesof advices to improve the quality of Chinese textbooks are given. Since wordslearning is a successive process and is a key element for improving Chinese standard,we hope this thesis can help teachers who use these textbooks in teaching and providesome good advices for textbook editors.
