With the rapid development of international Chinese language educationindustry, the textbook compilation has also entered a golden era. The growing numberof and various kinds of textbooks has brought about wide attention in the veryindustry. Among numerous types of books, Boya Chinese is one of most qualifiedworks, which wins highly appraisal across education experts, scholars and users.Analyzing the pros and cons of this textbook, and discovering applicable rules ofteaching and learning will effectively foster the compiling of higher qualifiedtextbooks in the Chinese language education field.The text is the core element of the teaching material and directly affects thequality of the overall text. Therefore, this article conducts researches on the text inprimary and semi-intermediate level, via both qualitative and quantitative methods, toanalyze the topics, genres, level of complexity and language training material of suchbook. In addition, the author spreads questionnaires out to international students fromlong-term courses in School of Chinese as a Second Language inSunYat-sen University, and successfully obtains evaluation from four different unitsof “Boya Chinese” through statistical data. Those obtained results make effectivecomparison with theoretical conclusions that the author made. Consequently, theauthor makes personal academic reviews and assessments on the four units, two-stage text.Finally, through concrete analysis, the author points out both the advantage anddisadvantage of such related text so that to foster the further improvements of “BoyaChinese” and that help other authors to learn the merits of such book so as to createmore outstanding Chinese language education textbooks.
