China’s public art originated in the1980s at the initial stage of when China’s reformand open. The public art with the spring breeze of reform blows through China. After30years of brewing and development the public art has made brilliant achievements.But the level of domestic public art design still has not a short distance between theinternational.Through visit the programs and research a large number of documents, the authorhas compared and analyzed the classic case of public art at home and abroad. And thenthe author finds out the main contradiction of development of public art at this stage isthe public understanding and awareness of public art is not enough.However, the public art is for the public service and the public participation isfundamental of life for the public art.
