Liu Xiang is the first person to write biography for female in the Western HanDynasty. The Book “Biography of Lienv” written by Liu Xiang lays an importantposition of female in the history. This book has high value in literature and history, andit provids valuable data of the research about ancient female for the researchers. I intendto give a pathbreaking study of the “Biography of Lienv “, in order to find more spaceon research. For thousands of years, researchers have never broken off the study of“Biography of Lienv”which is researched increasingly far-reaching. So studying theBook from the angle of pattern and type should be regarded as an old idea, but a newperspective.The beginning part of the dissertation is a introduction. It expatiates onachievements of “Biography of Lienv “and introduces the thoughts and significance ofstudy.The main body of the dissertation includes three parts which is further spreadingunder the guidance of the introduction.The first part is studying the T mission of female. In this part,“Biography ofLienv” is divided into two patterns and seven types. According to the request, thesewomen should stride across the barriers and adhere to the request of male.The second part is researching the distortion of Lienv. In this part, on the onehand，I compared “Biography of Lienv “of Liu Xiang with “Biography of Lienv “ofhistorical records; on the other hand, it is studying the reason of the distortion of Lienv.The distortion of Lienv is connected with the background characteristic of times andmaintains manifold links with the change of themselves.
