Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland is the most notable book written by Lewis Carroll who isregarded as the "Father of Children’s Literature" of the19thcentury. This study, usingDelabastita’s translation strategy as framework, aims to perform a qualitative research on howpun is translated by three Chinese scholars—ZhaoYuan-ren、WangYong-nian and Leng Shan.The whole thesis contains five chapters. The first chapter introduces Lewis Carroll and hisAlice’s Adventure in Wonderland as well as the current research on puns at home and aboard, andthen it points out the feasibility of using Delabastita’s translation strategy as the framework ofthis study. Chapter two discusses the typology of puns in Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland.Chapter three first explores the recognition of puns and the notion of "untranslatability", andthen introduces Delabastita’s translation strategies for puns. The forth chapter summaries thepuns in the corpus and makes a statistical database concerning the puns in the source text and italso analyzes the translation strategies used by the three translators. Chapter six is the conclusionpart of this thesis.
