Feidong dialect is one branch of Hefei dialect which is subordinate to JianghuaiMandarin in mid-Anhui Province. The scholars have paid attention to and done someresearch on Feidong dialect for a long time, but the pragmatic research on itsconversational structure has not been started so the author tries to describe the itsconversational structure of Feidong dialect to provide reference for the research onthe pragmatic situation of Feidong dialect and make contribution to enhance theresearch on Feidong dialect and Hefei dialect of Jianghuai Mandarin in mid-AnhuiProvince at large.The author conducted a sample survey at random, recording dialect ofseventeen towns of Feidong county, collecting lots of language material and sortingout their conversational structure. The paper concentrates on describing the make-upof Feidong dialect’s turn, the semi-turn and non-turn of Feidong dialect, chenzi inFeidong dialect, the principles of turn-taking in Feidong dialect, the judgment on theposition of transition relevance, pause and silence, and the pragmatic situation of theconversational structure an other aspects in Feidong dialect. The conversationalstructure of Feidong dialect and Mandarin have large degree of consistency, whichwill help people explore the pragmatic common character.This paper is mainly divided into seven chapters: the first chapter mainlyreviews the human geography of Feidong County, the current research of FeidongChinese dialect and its conversational structure. The second chapter discusses theturn and the paralanguage of Feidong Chinese dialect. The third chapter focuses onthe make-up of the turn of Feidong Chinese dialect and its diversity. The fourthchapter discusses the items of feedback, the subordinate turn, the unfinished turn, theturn of soliloquy, and the turn that listener finished for speaker in the half turn andnon-turn of Feidong Chinese dialect. The fifth chapter is about the chenzi in FeidongChinese dialect. The sixth chapter discusses the principles of turn-taking, thejudgement to the positions between transition and relevancy, and the issues aboutpause and silence in Feidong Chinse dialect. The last chapter is about the form ofconversational structure in Feidong Chinese dialect.
