Folk belief is a part of folk culture. This thesis makes a systematic discussion ofthe worship of nature, ancestor and worldly gods of folk belief among A Xi peopleunder the background of current crisis in belief from semiotic perspective. Theinvestigation of this study is conducted with related approaches of fields research.The thesis consists of four parts.Part one (chapter one) introduces the reason of selecting this title: present researchobject, significance and method: and generalizes the researches of folk belief of A Xiin academic and cultural background.Part two (chapter two)introduces appellation, populous distribution and culturalbackground, and generalizes the humane and geographical environment of Ke YIvillage to reveal the long history and rich culture makes KeYi village, one of herepresentative inheritance place of A Xi culture.Part three(chapter two,three, four), the mainly body of this thesis, discusses thecultural connotation of worship of nature, ancestor and worldly gods among A Xipeople with related data collected from field reseach, revealing the symbolic meaningof belief symbol.Part four (chapter five) analyzes and discusses the contemporary function of A Xifolk beliefs from the academic perspective. The contemporary function includes socialintegration function, cultural education function, psychological adjustment function,ecological development fuction etc. The fruit of the research will bring someimplications for similar research on folk beliefs.
