Both of the Burma people in Myanmar and Dai people in Xishuangbanna P.R.China have varieties of folk literatures. In their folk literatures, it contains differentkinds of culture and customs. Although the Burma people in Myanmar and Daipeople in Xishuangbanna P.R. China are in different countries, but they share thesame religion and culture in fact. So we can say that the Burma people’s religionculture in Myanmar and Dai people’s religion culture in Xishuangbanna P.R. Chinabelong to the same Theravada Buddhist Cultural Circle. Therefore, some of theircustoms are similar or even the same.Both the Myanmar Maha Rama novel and Xishuangbanna Lan ga Xi He arebased on the India’s “Ramayana”. Therefore, for convenience, I will call both theMyanmar Maha Rama novels and Xishuangbanna Lan ga Xi He as “Rama Story”in my paper.Actually, both the Burma’s “Rama Story” and the Dai’s “Rama Story” arederived from the India’s “Ramayana”, but with the spread of the Buddhism, theyevolved into different local folk tales in gradually. From the same source but spreadin different places, both the Burma’s “Rama Story” and the Dai’s “Rama Story” arequite different from the India’s. That is, there are some changes in both of them. Butthese changes also show that different nationality has its unique way in thinking andproduction habits.In this paper, it will include five parts, that is: Chapter one, The situation of theIndia Rama Story in Myanmar and in Xishuangbanna; Chapter two, The maincontent of the Rama Story in Myanmar and in Xishuangbanna; Chapter three, thecomparative study between the Burma’s “Rama Story” and the Dai’s “Rama Story”;Chapter four, the cultural implication of the Burma’s “Rama Story” and the Dai’s“Rama Story”; Chapter five, Conclusion.In both the Burma’s “Rama Story” and the Dai’s “Rama Story”, there are manydifferent customs, values and national psychological characteristics. So in this paper,I will compare the two stories’ characteristics of the main characters, theme ideas, the main plot, and so on. And finally, I will find out the different cultural implicationbetween these two stories.
