| “Significant insignificance”is an importance view in the design theory,which raises a method of thinking and designing in modern book design, fromthe starting point of different representation of book binding and design. Thismethod emphasizes self-discovery and self-esteem, and through comparisonand thinking of originality, to understand the inner essence and the reason ofthe“insignificance”. We here discuss as the a method of modern book design,how“insignificance”should be perceived and selected, how the significanceshould be embodied by choosing“insignificance”and lastly the two aspects ofthis embodiment, namely, acknowledgement anddetermination of selection, toreach the unity of form and contents, to achieve the practical value of modernbook design, and to supply the book manifestation art with a new possibilityand a base for innovation. |
