| A teacher’s monodrama can be described as a kind of "solo play" in which a foreign language teacher plays a role or character in order to help learners understand different aspects and concepts of a foreign language. Monodramas can vary in structure from simple and less elaborate short actions to more specific and complicated performances. But the purpose of a teacher’s monodrama remains the same, namely, to improve the language learners’efficiency of learning, to help learners better understand vocabulary, improve grammar usage, to help learners develop a natural understanding of the target language, and to introduce the expressions of a foreign culture.The study of drama in education and general monodrama theory’s significance, characteristics and types will be discussed in the second and third chapters. The fourth chapter will utilize the above mentioned theories to examine the characteristics and effectiveness of teachers’monodrama. In the fifth chapter the findings of the foreign language learner’s questionnaire, which describes a relationship between the use of teacher’s monodrama and the language learner’s interest in foreign language classes, will be discussed. The sixth chapter examines the observations made through practical foreign language teaching that the teacher’s monodrama encourages learner achievement and involvement in foreign language education.According to the research herein, it is confirmed that the teacher’s monodrama has an effect on the learners’ interest and motivation, as well as contributes to the learner’s achievement and involvement in the class. In conclusion, a teacher who is very familiar with the culture of the target language may, through monodrama, not only improve language acquisition but also create a foundation for comprehensive and high quality foreign language education. The teacher’s monodrama is a powerful tool in foreign language education and should be continued to be used as an effective teaching method. |
