YinghuaShujian(1913-1923)was collected and published by Mr.Tang Mingzhong andHuang Gaobin in 1980s. It comprises Guo Moruo’s sixty-six letters to parents during studying inJapan and is precious documents that research Guo Moruo early thought and literature creations. The details and domestic affairs it provided about Guo Moruo’s learning and living in Japanalways are the better part of Guo Moruo’s biographies and the chronicles of Guo Moruo’s life. There are not many first-hand information about Guo Moruo’s early lives and literature creations, meanwhile, Guo Moruo’s narrations always share a rich kind of literary flavor and have manyself-contradictories. The letters inYinghuaShujian copied according to the original record arecontinually throughout Guo Moruo’s learning and living in Japan and have always been takenseriously attention by academic circles because of its truth and reliability. In spite of this,YinghuaShujian’s maybe more valuable literary value are neglected long time, virtually, everyYinghuaShujian’s letter can be as an independent literature text, and as a successional textdocuments in crucial ten years of Chinese social and cultural transformation,YinghuaShujian’s potential academic value can hardly be measured. So the purpose of my study is tryingto reveal this value from some new perspective, family letters, language, etc, and further explorethe possibility of Guo Moruo’s thought and literary sense behind these letters. The contents ofYinghuaShujian not only genuine and believable, but also involvescomprehensive details, from national affairs, housework, birthday and wedding, education andofficial career to personal finance, exam, diet and daily life, even Guo Moruo’s mood feeling andemotion changes are truly recorded. There need a lot of work done on exploring this value. Thispaper tries my best to peep into the true spirit of Guo Moruo’s early thoughts by textual researchsome details. We should take more attention to the literariness ofYinghuaShujian’s text andthrough it we would have intuitive comprehension about Guo Moruo’s mode of literary thinkingand literary expression. The article is divided into three chapters: in the first chapter, by the two new perspective offamily letters and language, the author mainly discussYinghuaShujian’s potential academicvalue that particularly refer to Social Thought, Political, Cultural, Philosophy, Education and soon, and do some exploration in these areas with literary perspective. The first part mainly revealsYinghuaShujian’s inside information and intrinsic value from the development of Chinese traditional family letters and traditional family ethics; The second part tries to understandYinghuaShujian’s new character and its profound sociocultural information; The third partdiscuss the change ofYinghuaShujian’s language, from classical Chinese to modern vernacular—this change is unexpected but also a matter of course, based on the previous research, thispaper argues that the watershed of the change in the language of Guo Moruo’s home letters is inthe August of 1918 after Guo Moruo enter Japanese Fukuoka Imperial Medical University. In the second chapter, I tried to put forward my own views on the“General consensus”,which is an important issue in the study of Guo Moruo. In the mean time, I attempted tounderstand the early spiritual world of Guo Moruo. In the first part, Through the text analysisand appraisal aboutYinghuaShujian, I concluded that, The image of the“Traitor”in the Earlystage of Guo Moruo’s Novel, is shaped by the Literature. The Inevitability of the so-called "bornrebel”, is just attached on the basis of literary fiction. In the second part, from the letter whichwritten by a time when Guo Moruo cohabitation with Anna and gave birth to a child. I revealedthe root which causes depression of Guo Moruo, is his fall in love with Anna. The third partresearched the Sit-in of Guo Moruo, analysised his Way of thinking and expression, Concludedthat Epiphany is the core content of his way of thinking. The third chapter studied the Relationship betweenYinghuaShujian and Guo Moruo’sEarly literary creation. The first part discussed the text and the literary concept after his writingstyle changed. The third part demonstrated the earliest Poem of Guo Moruo, was almostimpossible to write in 1916. His wrong records were actually pointed to the emotionalentanglements with Anna. The third part considered Guo Moruo believes that the mostcharacteristic of poetry is the metaphor of photography and painting, nudity and clothes. HisReflection and exploration on poetry is actually closely related to his way of thinking andexpression as a Writer. His biggest feature was not to pursue the construction of a grand systemor conception, but focused on the image expression and speculation.
