“Confession”is a behavior that one can reflect himself in the deep heart on hisfault and then take place with self-condemned and self-negative, representing hispotential self-exceeding desires. The confession in the literature expresses a truthyearning, a life reflection and a beauty calling. The literature revealed out of theconsciousness of confession, and, to some extent, is an intellectual deservesaffirmation and praise of perfection and progress of the transcendent spirit. In Chinese traditional culture and literature context, the consciousness ofconfession exists in many of different shapes. As the most ancient literature oftenappearing the words“hui guo”,“hui zui”,“zhui hui”,“nei xing”,“zi song”,“fan gongzi xing”,“zui ji”, and so on, possesses thought of this consciousness of confession andall belongs to the category. The consciousness of confession various forms in theancient literature means that the culture of Chinese consciousness of confession isquite rich and various. It has a long history, rich-content and Uniqueness of theconsciousness of confession in Chinese culture. Therefore, it is becoming verynecessary to penetrate into the research of the consciousness of confession in Chineseancient literature.Confucianism is the main body of the ancient Chinese culture, which filled a mixby the Taoist and Buddhist thought at the same time. The Chinese culture ismultifarious, so for the understanding towards the consciousness of confession in theancient literature should also be various levels, not a single, and definitely notmeasured by value criterion of other cultures. Through mining and combing thesignificance of the confession, the author thinks that the conscious of confession inChinese ancient literature can be divided into three levels, namely the one in the moraland ethical level under the influence of the Confucianism value system, the one in thereligious level under the influence of the Buddhism thought, and the one beyond levels under the Taoist“sin consciousness”ideas.Exploring the causes of the consciousness of confession in the literature, asidefrom the external factors such as the history and culture in a specific society, weshould also pay attention to the internal factors such as the personal characteristics ofthe Chinese intellectuals. Generally speaking, the characters of the Chineseintellectuals basically have the following features. Firstly, they have the long-deepsuffering consciousness. Secondly, they have the intense“sense of shame”consciousness. Thirdly, they have the complexity and the contradiction in thecharacters. The three features interacted one another, and formed the specialconfessional behavior. Often they choose literature creations to complete with theascension and purification of their souls. This is the typical way to redeem themselves, that is, through the soul-taught completing themselves self-transcendence.There is a tremendous difference between Chinese and western culture. Althoughthey all involve confessional meaning in them, neither from the origin nor the finalgoal of the confession is in the same way. It mainly displays in the following aspects:1. Chinese culture holds that“goodness theory”while the western advocates“sintheory”in the origin thought. 2. It shows self-discipline and inner characteristics inChinese conscious of confession, and compares with quite opposite other-disciplineand extraversion characters in the Western’s. 3. To achieve the ultimate goal in Chinais the harmony, and the opposition in the west. Besides, there are also commonalitiesin both cultures, namely to the soul purification consensus. On the whole, reviewing the value of the consciousness of confession in Chineseancient literature is more focused on its art aesthetic aspects, and the perspective intothe reality of human nature is not profound enough, so that one cannot penetrate intothe soul completing with the sublimation and fission.
