After the outbreak of Anti-Japanese War, Nanjing National Government at that time declared to move the capital city to Chongqing, and various government organs moved to Chongqing. To this regard, poems on Anti-Japanese War written in Chongqing have taken a significant role in the entire picture of Anti-Japanese War literature. Chongqing has become a national political, military, economy and cultural center. Noted writers including Guo Moruo, Bing Xin, Zang Kejia and Ai Qing have spent a while in Chongqing respectively. They bestowed Chongqing with large quantity of excellent literature works. This thesis focuses on the poets of Anti-Japanese War as well as their influence on Chongqing. Chapters as follows are included.First, Chongqing and its natural beauty under poets’pen. Chongqing has its special climate and geographic environment and is often referred to as Fog City, Mountain City and River City. Those poets who moved from other areas including Beijing and Shanghai often created an atmosphere with Chongqing’s unique scenery to bring out the theme and also brought Chongqing a tone of literature vice versa.Secondly, Chongqing and its human spirit. It’s the people who live here but the rivers, mountains and buildings where the spirit of a city lies. Those poets got familiar with Chongqing and saw perseverance through Chongqing people’s daily life and their optimism. However, they still suffered from slight melancholy caused by unsettled life, which brought a homeless sense to their works.Thirdly, Chongqing in the poets’eyes. The war made Chongqing a capital and exerted tremendous influence to the entire social environment. This is a unusual Chongqing in which the poets lived. They kept a record of Chongqing at war in their own way. Political, economic and cultural environment of Chongqing as a life experience and creative resources has exerted an enduring influence on the poets.
