Research Of The Decorative Style Of The Chinese Ancient Screen

As an outstanding representative of Chinese traditional furniture and decorative art, screen has a very long history in ancient China, as dynasty changes, screen art has produced a large number of decorative forms and works with distinct features in the long river of history. By combining two characteristics of space organization and decorative art, screen art shows profound artistic, cultural, and social significance. So exploring its inherent rules, is the main point on this article.In the process of discussion, the paper firstly analyzed the sources and essential concepts of the traditional screen decorative art, by studying a lot of real objects, images and literatures, using archaeological methods of proof; using iconology method interpreted image in-depth of the specific historical periods; and integrating social history background, thus proposed that the appearance of screen is Originated from three needs:etiquette, practical, aesthetic, revealed the inherent rules hidden in the historical appearance, further discussed screen of decorative art in three core concepts:level concept, supplication idea and education mode.Secondly, the paper arranged the evolution of the ancient screen in time order, and put screen this decorative art in the history of architecture and furniture to comprehensive consideration, summarized the screen type and shape reasonable, further clarified the basic concepts. Then discussed the impression of screen in interior space of ancient China, in this chapter defined the screen as a form of a kind of architecture, by comprehensive understanding it in the interior space, combining with historical data of image and literature, proposed a partition of space secondary structure strategy.Then based on noble style, scholars style, religion style and folk style, the four main categories, summed up and sorted out screen decorative arts distribution in various dynasties, analyzed features of each style, picked out style context. On the basis of prior, summed up the inherent rules of screen decorative arts scientifically in ancient China on the decorative themes and decorative style, provided a theoretical basis on designs which to attract and convert the screen decoration contents and forms.In the last section, integrating of today’s social reality, pointed out the practical significance in inheritance and development of screen decoration in ancient China in new era, and problems and opportunities in the process, innovative idea and practices, and so on.Started with discussing the appearance of various decorative techniques on this article, analyzed the inherent rules, to exploring the contact of inner shape and aesthetic rules of screen decoration, and endeavor to make a little contribution on carrying forward the traditional culture through the research in this area.
