Duirng the seventies of last century, the encounter between feminism andtranslation studies intensely influenced upon the translation theoires and translationpractices and yielded fantastic results. Vermeer and other German functionalismscholars are prone to regard translation as an intercultural and communicative activitywith purpose between individuals along with the pragmatic turn both incommunicative theory and in linguistics. On the basis of this fruitful researches, anovel theory- Skopos Theory emergedt. The Skopos Theory proposed tha translationis a form of translational action in terms of a source text and the major pirncipledeciding upon any translation process is the aim of the thorough translational action. It is proved that the thesis hesitantly put Skopos Theory to feminist translation toexpound the specialty and rationality of feminist translation and proposes to evaluatefeminist translation with rules of Skopos Theory. This thesis demonstrates that Skopos Theory focuses on the analysis oftranslator’s role as an active and creative subject in feminist translating process andSkopos Theory redeifnes the definition of fidelity as a crucial translation principle.Meanwhile, the thesis has done complicated and detailed explanations to therelationship between Skopos Theory and feminist translation theory. Besides, threetheoretical explanations to feminist translation emerge rfom the framework of SkoposTheory, which can be outlined as (1) the purpose of translation has been emphasized,(2) the principle of fidelity has been reinterpreted, (3) the feminist translation processhas been theoretically analyzedoi. In the end, the thesis also has pnted out certain limitations of this theory atfer veirfying the positive aspects and inlfuences of feministtranslation theory.
