A Study On The Evolution Of The Stops Of Ping Dialect Of The North Guangxi

The previous studies of ping dialect of north guangxi1were mainly concentrated upon the description of the single-point phonology, the collection of the homophony syllabary and the discussion of the attribution of ping dialect, and so on. There are various kinds of synchronic performance about the stops of ping dialect of north guangxi. The most special is the exists of implosives, and based on this, the other sound classes are evolved. The question is that the implosives are renascent spontaneously, or the language substratum? How do the implosives evolve? Based on previous description of phonology and homophony syllabary, coupled with the field investigation of ping dialect of north guangxi from author, this paper focuses on the description and process analysis about synchronic situation and diachronic evolution of ping dialect of north guangxi.The research method is mainly to put the stops of ping dialect of north guangxi and the phonological stops of the<rhyme book>2《切韵》 compared, integrated use of modern phonetics change theory, and analyze the cause and process and result of evolution of ping dialect of north guangxi.the writing process is basically with the order of stops own evolution process. The synchronic performances of the stops, other non-stops class enter to stops class issues have also been involved. This paper can be divided into four parts. The first part is the overall description and analysis of stops’synchronic performance, including exploring the type of stops, distribution region, the imbalance of aspirated and unaspirated stops, and the voiced stops legacy of ping dialect of north guangxi, to get an initial understanding on the whole of stops’characteristics of ping dialect of north guangxi.The second part is to explore diachronic evolution of the stops of ping dialect of north guangxi,to analyze evolution procession and the causes of the three types of stops step by step:the bilabial stops, the tip of the tongue stops and the velar stops, including the causes and the procession that the ancient pronounced"bangmu(帮母)”and "duanmu(端母)”group with implosive sound, and the causes and the procession that the "bangmu(帮母)”and "duanmu(端母)”group continue to evolve to nasal sound or lateral sound, and the phenomenon of velarization and fricationalized for "jian" group(见组).The third part discusses the phenomenon that the non-stops class enter to stops class including the investigate of ancient "jing" group(精组),zhang" group(章组)pronouncedto"duan"group (端组),"fei"group (非组)pronounced to "bang" group,""zhi" group(知组)pronounced to "duan" group(端组).The fourth part is the conclusion, mainly to summarize evolution processes and patterns of the stops of ping dialect of north guangxi, and draw the synchronic and diachronic evolution pattern’diagram of the three types of the stops of ping dialect of north guangxi.in short, the core of this article is to explore the unique stops situation and evolution pattern of ping dialect of north guangxi, and explain the evolution process of it.From the stops situation and evolution pattern of ping dialect of north guangxi, the situation is very complex. The performance of synchronic plane stops is the result of many diachronic levels overlapping. The reasons of evolution is varies, and the way of evolution is diversification. There are some evolution can be explained in sound, some evolution are caused by a non-voice factor, and some evolution are caused by a variety of factors. The voice is always changing, though the changes is too slow to be perceived, it is an objective fact. The changes make the language independent and make the language integration. All what we have to do is to study why it changed, how to change.The topic of this paper—"the study on the evolution of the stops of ping dialect of north guangxi", which means to explore the synchronic performance and the regularity of sound variation, hoping to come to its unique evolution mode. On the one hand, deepening itself understanding of the stops of ping dialect of north guangxi;on the other hand, exploring the regularity of sound variation of the stops of ping dialect of north guangxi to get the deep understanding on regularity of sound variation.
