When we retrospect the modern history, female issue and feminist issue are unevadable. For it notonly means that thousands of years of conventional customs, but related to the social life of all aspects,such as family relations, social activities and child-rearing, etc. Accepting education is the path to femaleliberation. As the vanguard group of the modern women liberation, knowledge female, their manners werenot only the carriers of the social life and secular ideas, but also the way of cognizing changes on modernsociety. And for, the history of Shanghai resembles the development of modern China, So this option ispropitious and unique.The economic and social development of Modern Shanghai and the collision between the Chinese andWestern culture, created opportunities for the local women’s walking out into society. Benefited from theadvance of school education, women not just got the edification of modern education, but developed theability of financial independence. In other words, modern women had already taken steps further to theirliberation. Because of the handicap of the secular ideas and the intensifying national and social crisis, theirmoving forward wasn’t smooth and breezy. Their path forward was rough and tortuous. As Luxun said,Nala was the symbol of disillusioned women. The moment awoke, they would not be back. Facing suchcontradictory realities, where should Nala go. Seeing modern history, the trouble Nora had being facedwasn’t individual, but also of the times.The advancement of modern women liberation was the emergency measures of the national crisis andsocial crisis. However, when time has dispelled all the crises and the society has been making earth-shakingachievements, the female issue has still not been solved. The author analyzes the frustrations and repetitionof modern female liberation, and attributes this to the deep-rooted gender perception that inherited fromtraditional society. The author believes that the solution to female issue and feminist issue depend on thesocial development and changes in secular concept.
