The Wenxian Dialect Degree Of Representation

Degree is the category of quantity to indicate the difference of the trait and the rating of things. It,reflecting the congnitive pattern of human beings toward the properties and conditions of things, is thecommon congnitive category in human language. In modern Chinese, it expresses the difference of thedegree by overlapping the adjectives, adding degree-marking words and the accompanying tone words.In The Partition Between Mandarin and Dialects, Li Rong has suggested that the dialect ofWenxian should belong to Jin Yu (language spoken in Shanxi province) because Wenxian dialect still keepsa dependent sound [ru] despiting that the codas ([-p]、[-t]、[-k]) of the sound [ru] have changed into glattolstop.Starting from the linguistic facts of Wenxian dialect, this paper summarizes the means forexpressing the degree, overlapping patterns of adjectives and adverbs, degree adverbs and degree pronounsin the place of adverbial, degree words and fixed structures used as complements, and stress and tone inWenxian dialect, reveals its characteristics of the degree expreesion method. And this paper can, to someextent, fill the blank of the acdemic field of the study of Wenxian dialect, which will provide some usefullinguistic resource for the sudsequent exploration and research.The paper consists of introduction, four chapters and conclusion.The preface mainly gives a brief introduction of the general situation of Wenxian, the presentcondition of the study of Wenxian dialect, the object and goal of the research, research method and thetheory adopted, the selected material and the source of the material, the explanation of the article style andthe phnological system of Wenxian dialect. Chpter1, overlapping representation. This chpter describes and explains different forms thatadjectives, adverbs use to express degree. It gives detailed explanations in the perspectives of the phoneticcharacteristics, grammatical meaning and grammatical function of overlapping forms.Chpter2, adverbial representation. This chapter describes and analyzes the degree adverbs anddegree pronouns that indicate the change of the degree in the place of adverbial.Chapter3, complement representation.For the unique complement in Wenxian dialect, thischapter gives us the description and reasonable explanation from the aspect of grammatical function andgrammatical meaning.Chpter4, other ways of expreesing the degree. This chapter describes and explains several waysto express the degree,such as the use of stress, tone, and the addition of mood words, which is aimed toshow ways of expressing the degree of Wenxian dialect in all aspects.Conclusion, mainly summarize the whole article.The new point of the paper: it discovers some words and other structural components used toexpress the degree only existing in the dialect; describes complicate and rich overlapping forms; combinesthe expression of the degree with stress, tone, mood and rhetoric so that the expression method of thedegree can be comprhensively showed.
