To promote the development of the human personality, creativity and subjectivityhas become the guiding ideology of educational reforms and teaching experiments. Tovalue and emphasize the students’ subjectivity and their position in the teachingprocess has become a consensus. The practices of activity teaching is meant to enablestudents to enter into every autonomous, active and creative activity and learn withthe purpose of making full play of subjectivity, and ultimately achieve thecomprehensive development of each individual. The activity teaching is one of themost effective channels to promote the students’ subjectivity. As a very practicalcourse, tourism English should employ more activity teaching to promote thestudents’ subjectivity to the full. However, according to the author’s investigation, thestatus quo of activity teaching in the course of tourism English for undergraduates inChina is not so optimistic, and the students’ subjectivity still has a long way to go, andthe dominant position of students as main participants are not implemented.The purpose of this thesis is to promote the development of the students’subjectivity through activity teaching of College Tourism English. In this vein, thethesis has investigated the status quo of activity teaching of College Tourism Englishand the students’ subjectivity quality in the course of activity teaching, and hasanalyzed the survey results of the status quo of activity teaching of College TourismEnglish from four aspects such as the activity teaching design, teaching content,teaching forms of organization, and interactive communication of teachers andstudents; The thesis has analyzed the survey results of students’ subjectivity qualityfrom four aspects, namely, selectivity, autonomy, activity and creativity in order tofind out where the problem is. Then, the thesis has analyzed the problem of the lack ofthe students’ subjectivity in the activity teaching of College Tourism English fromschool leaders, teachers, students and teaching materials, aiming at putting forwardstrategies of developing students’ subjectivity in the activity teaching. That is, we needto be guided by the ideology of activity teaching and combine with practices of tourism English teaching to construct pre-class, in-class, and extracurricular mode ofactivity teaching so as to optimize the process of activity teaching and promote thefull development of students’ subjectivity.
