With the rapid development of tourism industry in China, Chinese-English translation becomes an urgent need. Tourism and culture are inseparable. Foreign visitors come to china not only to enjoy the beautiful scenery but also to understand the Chinese culture. Therefore, translating Chinese into English is in nature a kind of intercultural communication activity, providing a bridge to communicate with people of various cultural backgrounds.Tourist materials, such as proper names, allusions, figures of speech and folk customs, etc., contain a lot of cultural factors that are the gem and the crystallization of Chinese cultural connotations. On the translation of the tourist material from an intercultural communication prospective, a strategy which can be more effective in transferring Chinese culture and promoting cultural exchanges is the awareness of Shen Si- the mysterious reflections.Shen Si was put forward by Liu Xie 1500 years ago. Shen Si calls for keeping psychical distance for intercourse. A psychical distance which is neither close nor distant is necessary for the creation subject's heart to penetrate through the object into its core. It's also necessary for promoting the intercourse between feeling and object, heart and object. The free and flowing action merging in adequate psychical distance shows a fluent and graceful beauty of dynamic. Moreover, by using some metaphor methods such as simile to link the two sides of psychical distance, as well as sight changing, exceeding and limiting, psychical distance is perfectly achieved. In conclusion, this paper suggests that a translator's awareness of Shen Si plays an important role in traveling translation. Such a problem is worth studying and the findings are especially valuable to teachers who concentrate on the teaching of tourism translation. The author of the paperRecommends that teachers should put special emphasis on the cultivation of their students' awareness of Shen Si in C-E translation which enables them to make a free choice of translation methods according to different purposes of translation and different target readers, rather than instill rigid translation strategies into the students' mind.
