This article is a translation project study report on the basis of the translation ofGeneral Report of the Pre-Feasibility Study of the Construction Project of theStandardized Medical Service System of Grassroots Hospitals in Urban and RuralAreas--Chongqing Urban-Rural Integration Project (with the World Bank Loan)Phase Ⅱ (Brief Edition)(the brief report for short) submitted by ChongqingDevelopment and Reform Commission for the visit and investigation of the WorldBank Investigation Group. The brief report includes contents of eight respects likeproject background, project selection, general conditions and so on. The authorconsiders the translation of the brief report as a sort of Communicative Translation.And on the basis of that, the author analyses by comparison and contrast and worksout by deduction the similarities and differences of Chinese and English studiesreports in the respects of structure, contents and language use, proposes potentialproblems in the course of translation, explains the causes of the problems on thetheoretical ground of intercultural communication and puts forward correspondinghandling strategies in relationship to the basic theory and methods of CommunicativeTranslation, in an effort to facilitate the future translation of various studies reportsand the realization of the value of translating work.
