| The Zhuang Nationality is an ancient rice-farming nation in Lingnan.The Lingnan natural farming conditions and the Zhuang modes ofproduction determine the Zhuang dietary struture and style, which isfeaturing in in eating rice and drinking fish chowder. The Zhuanglanguage belongs to the Zhuang ethnic groups, and it serves as therepresentation and carrier to record, transmit and develop the Zhuangculture. The Zhuang language incorporates the splendid traditional cultureof the Zhuang Nationality, among which the dietary culture is animportant component part. The present study takes Zhuang dietvocabulary as the research subject, starting from the perspective of thevocabulary and applying the relevant linguistic theory to explore andexamine the Zhuang vocabulary regarding the diet names, and thenanalyzes the cultural connotations of the dietary words. In this way, wewill be able to have a good view of the dietary custom, concept, eatingand living style of the Zhuang people. Through the investigation, we havefound that the Zhuang foods and stuffoods are in a great variety and thereare rich lexicons in Zhuang language. The diet includes not only thematerial, but also the social and spiritual contents. The Zhuang diet paysgreat attention to the nutrition balance and advacates the dietary idea thatsome foods can be used both for eating and medical purposes.It has to bepointed out that the exploration and investigation of the Zhuangvocabulary will help us better understand the Zhuang traditional cultureregarding the diet and farming, which is of big significance for promotingthe Zhuang excellent tradition culture. |
