Diet Words Research Of 《New Practical Chinese Textbook》

Chinese diet culture is profound, and it influences on Chinese vocabulary hugely. It can be said diet infiltrates into every aspect of our life. However, it is difficulty certainly for students to learn these diets vocabulary, if they can’t grasp the true meaning of these words, there are misunderstandings possible, even pragmatic errors. According to previous researches and the development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the writer made corresponding definition and classification for diet words.Textbook of teaching Chinese as a foreign language is the essential tool for learning and teaching Chinese. It’s a large number of diet vocabularies, is crucial to how to classify the difficulty degree of the words and how to choose words for textbooks. New Practical Chinese Textbook (mainly edited by Liu Xun) is a very popular and practical book of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. In this paper, the writer sorted out the diet vocabularies exhaustively, summarized the number of diet vocabularies, calculated the number of the diet words’proportion in all new words of all the six books of New Practical Chinese Textbook, and then calculated the proportion of these six books’ diet words in Chinese Proficiency Vocabulary and Grade Outline of Chinese Characters. After then, in accordance with verbs, nouns, adjectives, and other forms of words, the writer classified these words with their deferent cooking styles, eating actions, eating utensils, and diet varieties, eating places, food tastes, diet status and diet sayings one by one. Bases on the classification, the writer gave the distribution of the diet words in these books, analyzed the distribution and their transferred meaning comprehensively and detailed, and analyzed some of the advantages and disadvantages in choosing and compiling these diet words. What’s more, the writer made a simple exploration of four aspects influenced by Chinese diet culture deeply, which include Chinese rice and meat culture, cooking arts, table culture and local flavor, and dish names culture. Finally, the writer put forward some teaching principles, methods and suggestions to teaching diet vocabulary to foreign students.
