Culture in central plains has a long history with a unique charm since the ancient time. Culture in southern part of Henan province is an especially distinguished one. There are a large number of cultural relics unearthed here, especially bronze inscriptions and other archaeological materials, which provide a wealth of historical research for our study of ancient history. This thesis, by summing up the researches of senior scholars, applying paleography, philology, historical geography, and other related subject knowledge, and relying on classics records of the first Qin Dynasty, studies and sorts out history of ancient time in southern part of Henan province.This article tries to collect comprehensive archaeological data of relics excavated scientifically in Nanyang, Zhumadian, and Xinyang, since the foundation of the kingdoms as detailed as possible, reports and investigates materials on the archaeological excavations of ruins of the ancient kingdoms, also combines with related inscriptions and records of local history to discuss the real features of the ancient Shang and Zhou dynasties in southern part of Henan province, which was missed by the records of these ancient countries.This thesis is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction. In this part, it elaborates the time and spatial extent of the thesis, the general introduction of bronze unearthed in the countries of Shang and Zhou Dynasties, the present situations of the researches, the study aims, methods and significance. The second part studies the inscriptions of bronze in southern part of Henan province. The thesis collects the scientifically excavated bronze in detail, classifies the inscriptions of bronzeby different countries, and then deciphered them respectively.The third part is the bronze culture in the blending of southern and northern culture. Based on the representative bronze groups, the thesis analyzes the causes and characteristics of bronze culture phenomenon in southern part of Henan province.The fourth part explores the history of the kingdoms in southern part of Henan province. This part explores twenty-three countries in southern part of Henan province appeared in Shang and Zhou dynasties, generally according to Mr. Chen Pan’s "Annals of Big Table off the Table of Nations MG Surname and Village Essays Vary (this)" as a libretto to supplement it.The fifth part is the summary. This is a summary of my understandings when I was doing research on the inscriptions in southern part of Henan Province in Shang and Zhou dynasties and on these kingdoms’history. The summary is to provide a platform for future studies of other researchers.
